Real French Hot Chocolate Recipe
  1. Heat the milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Do not allow the mixture to boil.

  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the chocolate until melted. If needed, return the saucepan to low heat for the chocolate to melt completely.

  3. Serve warm, in demitasse or espresso cups, topped with whipped cream and with a side of sparkling water if desired.
