In a large bowl, add softened cream cheese. Beat it gently with a spoon or spatula until smooth.
Add chopped chicken, cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, and ranch seasoning if using. Mix gently until evenly combined.
Transfer the mixture into the lined bowl. Press lightly to remove air pockets. Cover and refrigerate for at least two hours until firm.
Once chilled, lift out the cheese ball and roll it in chopped nuts and chives until evenly coated. Press gently so the coating sticks without flattening the ball.
