Chicken Fried Shrimp

Corn & Bacon Gravy

  1. Season shrimp with salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne. Let marinate for a few minutes. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, hot sauce and beaten egg. In a third bowl, mix flour and cornstarch.

  2. Toss shrimp quickly into the wet mix, then coat in dry mix. Shake off excess then set on a rack for 10 minutes.

  3. Preheat oil to 360F. Fry each shrimp until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  4. Gravy: Saute bacon in olive oil, garlic and onion. Once cooked through, add corn and saute about 5 min more. Then add all to a blender along with chicken stock and heavy cream. Blend until smooth. Heat over medium high heat until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
