Make the meringue by beating the egg whites, ½ cup white sugar, and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl, mix the cake flour, baking powder, ¼ cup white sugar, and salt.
Add the milk, ube halaya, and ube flavoring/coloring to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
Gently fold the meringue into the ube batter.
Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
Top with a generous amount of slices of cheese and salted egg.
Steam the cake for 35-45 minutes or until fully cooked.
