  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and 1 tbsp of the sugar in the warm milk. Let it sit for 8–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Pour the foamy yeast mixture, butter, oil, and egg into the bread pan.

  3. Add the remaining sugar, flour, and finally the salt (keep salt off the yeast initially).

  4. Select Basic/White, 2‑lb loaf, and Light crust for the softest texture.

  5. Start the machine and, when finished, remove the loaf immediately and cool on a wire rack.
