Almond Croissant Slice
  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees

  2. In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, sugar, egg, vanilla & salt until smooth

  3. Sift in the flour and baking powder and stir until a thick batter forms, then pour into a lined square tin

  4. Give the bowl a quick wipe then make the frangipane - adding the butter and sugar and creaming with an electric beater for 2-3 mins

  5. Beat in the vanilla and almond extract, then the eggs one at a time

  6. Beat in the almond meal until just combined

  7. Evenly spread the mixture over the base then cover with the flaked almonds

  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes until lightly golden brown

  9. Allow to fully cool before dusting with icing sugar
