Sloppy Joes
  1. Finely chop the onion. Seed and finely dice the green pepper.

  2. In a bowl, combine the Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, tomato paste, and tomato sauce.

  3. Place a large skillet over medium/high heat and add butter. Once hot, add in the green bell pepper and onion. Cook seven minutes until the veggies are tender. Add the chopped garlic and sautéed 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly.

  4. Push veggies to side, and add ground beef. Saute the beef for about 5 minutes until cooked through and no longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula (don’t stir too much—flavorful extra cooked bits are delicious). Season with salt and pepper. Deglaze with chicken broth if there’s flavorful bits stuck to the bottom.

  5. Add in the combined sauces mixture and bring to a light boil. Add the MSG, garlic and onion powder, and mix in well. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes (stirring only every 3 minutes at most) or until thickened to your liking. Season to taste with salt and pepper and add water if you prefer a looser consistency.

  6. Serve on toasted buns!
