Authentic Thai Basil Beef Recipe (pad Gra Prow)
  1. Finely chop your beef if not using pre-ground.

  2. Pound garlic and chilies into a coarse paste using a mortar and pestle (or pulse in a food processor).

  3. Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add the chili-garlic paste and stir-fry for about 20 seconds until fragrant.

  4. Add the beef and stir-fry until no longer pink.

  5. Stir in black soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and the optional white pepper. Mix well to coat the beef evenly.

  6. Turn off the heat and stir in holy basil until just wilted.

  7. Serve hot with jasmine rice and a crispy fried egg, if desired.
