Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or a cast iron skillet with butter.
In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add milk, eggs, and melted butter. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with butter or honey.
