Bakery-style Puff Pastry Dessert
  1. Prepare your cheese filling by adding the cream cheese, farmer cheese, egg, sugar, vanilla pudding mix, and lemon zest into a bowl and mixing until smooth and creamy.

  2. Grab your thawed puff pastry making sure it’s already on a sheet of parchment paper. Make 2 slits at the bottom and 2 at the top just like in the video. Then make diagonal cuts on both sides. I did about 15 cuts on each side.

  3. Place the cheese filling only in the center of the pastry. Don’t be afraid to fill it generously. If using berries, add them right on top of the cheese filling.

  4. Remove the 4 corner pieces of dough — you won’t need them. Starting from the top, crossover the strips one over the other just like in the video until fully braided.

  5. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sliced almonds or sugar in the raw.

  6. Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for about 45 minutes or until deeply golden and crisp.

  7. Optional: dust with powdered sugar before serving or enjoy just as is.
