How To Make Crispy Tofu In The Oven Or Air Fryer
  1. Start by draining the water from the tofu container and wrapping the block in paper towels. Place on a dish or cutting board and place a heavy item on top to press for 30 minutes.

  2. After the tofu is pressed, slice the block into small, even cubes. Add to a mixing bowl and coat with 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 2 tbsp starch of choice (arrowroot, tapioca, cornstarch).

  3. Transfer the coated tofu to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper or air fryer pan. Drizzle about a tbsp of oil and mix it around with the tofu. Spread out all of the pieces and then bake on 400 degrees for 20 mins in the oven or 10 mins in the air fryer.

  4. After the 20 min in the oven/10 min in the air fryer, remove and flip the tofu pieces over. Bake for another 10 min in the oven and 5 min in the air fryer to finish crisping, then remove.

  5. Let the tofu cool down, then coat in your sauce of choice directly on the pan or in a mixing bowl. Serve immediately for best results or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

  6. For the sweet & spicy sauce: Shake up 2 tbsp sriracha, 2 tbsp coconut aminos/tamari/soy sauce, 2 tbsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 tsp ground ginger, 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional), and salt & black pepper to taste.
