Easy Baked French Toast
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, stir in the 1 cup of brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is dissolved. Pour this caramel mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking pan and spread it evenly.

  2. Scatter the bread cubes (or arrange slices) over the brown sugar-butter mixture in the pan.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and 1 tsp of cinnamon until well combined.

  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are well saturated. Gently press the bread down to help it absorb the liquid.

  5. Sprinkle the remaining 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1 Tbsp of brown sugar over the top of the bread.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

  7. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Cut into squares and invert onto plates, so the brown sugar butter sauce from the bottom is on top. An optional dusting of powdered sugar adds a nice finish.
