In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (you can also use an electric hand mixer), cream the softened cream cheese and room temperature unsalted butter together on medium speed until silky in texture.
Add the tiny pinch of fine salt and a splash of vanilla extract. Mix to combine.
Scrape the bowl down using a rubber spatula to ensure all of the cream cheese and butter are getting mixed in properly.
Add in all of the powdered sugar, mix on low speed until the powdered sugar begins to incorporate, and then increase the mixer speed to medium.
Allow the frosting to mix on medium speed until all of the ingredients are well combined and you are left with a smooth texture (this should take 3-4 minutes but please keep an eye on it as yours may take more or less time).
