Karaage

Karaage is a very popular, easy and delicious dish in Japan.

Tightly seasoned!

Basic Karaage[1]

Ingredients (Serves 2)

1 chicken thigh (300 g)

3 tablespoons potato starch

3 tablespoons cake flour

Vegetable oil to taste

¼ lemon

☆Sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon sake

½ teaspoon grated ginger

½ teaspoon grated garlic

    How to make it

  1. Cut the lemon into 2 pieces. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces (about 3 ~ 4 cm).

  2. Add the ☆ ingredients to a bowl and mix. Add the chicken and mix well. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  3. Add potato starch and cake flour to 2 and mix.

  4. Add about 2 cm of vegetable oil from the bottom of the pan, heat to 170 °C, add the chicken and fry for 4 to 5 minutes over medium heat until cooked through. Place the fried chicken in a bowl and garnish with lemon.

When it's done, cut one and check if it's cooked through. If the inside is still raw, put it in oil again and fry it.
