Karaage is a very popular, easy and delicious dish in Japan.
Tightly seasoned!
Basic Karaage[1]
Ingredients (Serves 2)
1 chicken thigh (300 g)
3 tablespoons potato starch
3 tablespoons cake flour
Vegetable oil to taste
¼ lemon
☆Sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon sake
½ teaspoon grated ginger
½ teaspoon grated garlic
Cut the lemon into 2 pieces. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces (about 3 ~ 4 cm).
Add the ☆ ingredients to a bowl and mix. Add the chicken and mix well. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Add potato starch and cake flour to 2 and mix.
Add about 2 cm of vegetable oil from the bottom of the pan, heat to 170 °C, add the chicken and fry for 4 to 5 minutes over medium heat until cooked through. Place the fried chicken in a bowl and garnish with lemon.
How to make it
When it's done, cut one and check if it's cooked through. If the inside is still raw, put it in oil again and fry it.
I often made it like that.
