Bentonite Clay Soap Recipe
  1. Gather ingredients and equipment.

  2. Measure out your bentonite clay.

  3. Measure your distilled water into a lye-safe plastic container.

  4. If using essential oils, measure them out and mix the clay into it.

  5. Measure out lye into a separate lye-safe plastic container.

  6. Slowly add your lye to your water, stirring to dissolve the lye.

  7. Set lye solution aside until it cools down to 100-120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  8. Measure out your hard oils into a pot and heat on low until melted.

  9. Set aside to cool to 110-130 degrees Fahrenheit.

  10. Measure out your soft oils and set them aside.

  11. Add soft oils to the pot of melted hard oils.

  12. Slowly pour your lye solution through your sieve into the pot of oils.

  13. Use your stick blender to stir and combine the lye solution and oils.

  14. Let the soap batter rest and thicken up for a few minutes.

  15. Repeat stirring and blending until desired level of trace is reached.

  16. Add your clay mixture prior to reaching desired level of trace.

  17. Carefully pour your soap batter into your lined mold.

  18. Set your soap aside to rest.

  19. Wait 24-36 hours before unmolding and cutting.

  20. Cure soap for 4-6 weeks before use.
