Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a pan over medium heat, add 1 diced onion and sauté until it starts to lose color, 7 minutes.
Add 2 cloves minced garlic
After about a minute add ½ pound sausage and ½ pound ground beef along with salt, pepper, and ½ tbps Italian Seasonings. Cook until browned.
Stir in 2 tbsp tomato paste.
Add 2 cups marinara sauce then 3-4 cups chicken broth. Stir in ½ cup heavy cream and bring to a boil.
Add half a box of lasagna noodles broken into pieces. Lower heat and let simmer until pasta is completely cooked. If the liquid is fully absorbed and the pasta starts to stick to the bottom of the pan, add more broth.
Turn off heat the stir in ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese and at least 1 cup shredded mozzarella. Freshly shredded mozzarella will melt better than pre-shredded. Stir until the cheese has melted, then add a quarter cup chopped basil.
