  1. Begin by preparing your workspace. Gather all ingredients and necessary tools, including a food processor, a mixing bowl, a spatula, and an 8x8-inch baking dish or a similar-sized container lined with parchment paper.

  2. In the food processor, combine the pitted dates, natural peanut butter, rolled oats, unsweetened cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, and sea salt. Process on high until the mixture becomes a sticky dough, scraping down the sides as needed. This should take about 1-2 minutes.

  3. Once the mixture is well combined and sticky, transfer it to the prepared baking dish. Using your hands or a spatula, press the mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the dish to create the first layer. Ensure it is compacted to hold together well.

  4. Next, sprinkle the chopped peanuts evenly over the pressed layer in the baking dish. Gently press the peanuts into the mixture to secure them in place.

  5. In a small bowl, combine the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil. Use a microwave to melt the mixture by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, if you prefer not to use a microwave, you can create a double boiler by placing the bowl over a pot of simmering water, stirring until melted.

  6. Once the chocolate is melted, pour it over the layer of peanuts in the baking dish. Use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly across the top.

  7. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours to allow the layers to set and the chocolate to harden.

  8. After the mixture has set, remove the dish from the refrigerator. Using the parchment paper, lift the entire block out of the dish. Place it on a cutting board.

  9. With a sharp knife, cut the block into bars or squares, depending on your preferred serving size.
