Homemade Whole Wheat Buttermilk Waffles
  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's setting.

  2. In a medium bowl, mix together whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix together and set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, buttermilk, sugar, and egg. Mix until fully combined.

  4. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined, do not overmix.

  5. Spray the waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray or spread on melted butter. Add the batter to the waffle maker. Cook based on your waffle maker instructions. Serve with maple syrup and butter.
