Jamaican Beef Patties From Scratch
  1. Mix dry ingredients for dough

  2. Cut in cold butter until combined

  3. Add cold water and bring dough together

  4. Chill dough for 45 minutes

  5. Cook ground beef in a pan

  6. Drain excess fat from beef

  7. Add finely diced onion, garlic, green onion, and scotch bonnet to beef

  8. Add thyme, allspice, paprika, and curry powder to the mixture

  9. Stir in soy sauce and ketchup

  10. Add beef broth to the filling

  11. Blend bread with water to create a slurry

  12. Stir bread slurry into filling and cook until thick but still has movement

  13. Roll dough thin

  14. Fill with beef mixture

  15. Fold and crimp edges

  16. Apply egg wash to patties

  17. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes until golden brown
