Brown your 4 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan. It will melt, come to a boil, foam and then it will start to turn golden brown. Be sure to stir constantly through this process.
Set aside to cool down a bit.
Heat your griddle. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar in a medium bowl.
Add eggs, buttermilk and browned butter; whisk to combine. (Do not overmix – it should have small to medium lumps!)
Grease your griddle with a bit of butter. Using about a ⅓ cup (or ladle), pour pancake batter onto griddle making sure they are far enough apart so not to pool together.
Flip over after they are browned on the first side. Second side should take less time than the first, so keep an eye on them, about 1 minute.
Repeat with remaining batter until they are all cooked.
Add butter and maple syrup in a small saucepan until melted and combined.
Add some of the bacon bits to the syrup and leave some to top as garnish.
Pour over hot pancakes and enjoy!
