  1. Preheat grill or cast iron pan over high heat for 5 full minutes.

  2. Coat steak on both sides with oil, then sprinkle with the salt, onion powder, garlic powder and black pepper.

  3. Once grill (or pan) is smoking hot, lightly oil that, too.

  4. Place the steak on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side.

  5. Don't attempt to flip until it releases easily when you gently lift a corner with tongs.

  6. Flip the steak and grill for another 3-4 minutes on the second side, or until the internal temperature reaches 125°F for medium rare.
