Add the butter to your mixing bowl with the paddle attachment and beat for ten minutes
Scrape down the sides of the bowl
Add in the almond and vanilla extracts
Add in the full bag of powdered sugar
Mix on low for 1-2 minutes until most of the powdered sugar is incorporated and not loose
Pour in half cup of heavy cream while mixing and let it incorporate
Pour in the other half cup of heavy cream while mixing and bring up the speed to medium high
Mix until buttercream is smooth, stable enough to pipe, and not runny
Optional: For chocolate buttercream, add ½ cup of cocoa powder and another 2-3 tbsp of heavy cream
