  2. Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder/soda, salt, cocoa powder if applicable)

  3. In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy

  4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in flavoring extracts or food coloring

  5. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk or buttermilk

  6. Fill cupcake liners ⅔ full

  7. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden

  8. Cool completely before frosting
