Put the lentils into a mixing bowl and add the garlic, herbs, pesto and passata. Toss together and season well.
Layer up a small baking dish with two layers each of the lentils and tomatoes.
Mix the breadcrumbs, cheese and smoked paprika together in bowl. Sprinkle over the top of the bake.
Pop in the oven and bake for 30-35 mins, until golden, bubbling and piping hot in the centre.
Remove the bake. Let it sit for 5 minutes as it will be ferociously hot. Use the time to cook some green veg such as kale, chard or broccoli to go alongside.
