Beat butter, brown sugar and caster sugar until creamy and slightly pale (do not overwhip)
Add vanilla and milk. Mix until smooth and glossy
In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
Fold dry ingredients into the butter mixture until a structured dough forms
Fold in chocolate chips evenly
Wrap dough tightly and chill for a minimum of 2 hours, preferably overnight
Shape into straight fry-like logs (9–10 cm long)
Chill shaped fries for 20–30 minutes
Bake at 180°C (170°C fan) for 12–15 minutes until light golden and crinkled on top
While still hot and soft, use two dough scrapers or two forks to gently push and press the sides inward to bring them back into a clean fry shape
Allow to set as they cool
Cool 5 minutes on tray before transferring
