[ ] Mix 1 ¼ cup warm milk, 1 ½ tbsp of active dry yeast, and 2 tsp of sugar.
[ ] Let sit for 5 min. (until bubbly)
[ ] Add yeast mixture to mixing bowl with 1 egg, 4 tbsp of softened butter, ¼ cup of sugar, 1 tsp of salt, and 3 ½ to 4 cups of bread flour. Start with 3 ½ cups then add more If too sticky.
[ ] Mix in a stand mixer or knead until smooth.
[ ] Cover for 2-3 hours. (until doubled in size)
[ ] Roll out dough and cut into strips. Take two strips and braid or twist them. Cover the breadsticks for about 20 minutes until they thicken up.
[ ] Bake at 350° for 20 min. Remove from the oven and add Garlic butter to the tops. Cook for an additional 5-10 min until brown.
