Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil or use air fryer parchment paper.
Using the paper towel or kitchen towel, dry the pickles as much as possible. It will make them easier to bread.
In a large bowl add flour and season it with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
Add the buttermilk and egg to the seasoned flour. Beat and stir to combine.
In a separate bowl add the panko breadcrumbs.
Dredge the pickles in the flour buttermilk mixture and then right after in the panko breadcrumbs.
Place the breaded pickles on a plate.
After breading the pickles, freeze the pickles for 15 minutes. This is optional but helps keep the breading intact.
Lay the pickles in the air fryer basket or tray. Give them some space. Cook in batches if needed.
Spray the pickles with cooking oil. I use Ghee butter spray.
Cook for 10 minutes at 380 degrees flipping after 5 minutes.Enjoy!
