  1. In a large pot, add the water, chopped garlic, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and let it simmer for 6–8 minutes to infuse the water with flavor.

  2. Stir in the half and half, butter, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

  3. Add the corn. Once it returns to a boil, cook for 6–8 minutes, or until the corn is tender.

  4. Remove the corn with tongs and serve hot, garnished with additional butter, parsley, or chives. Season with more salt if needed.
