Remove casing from hot sausage (if needed).
Brown hot sausage in a pan until fully cooked, breaking into small pieces.
Drain excess grease from the sausage.
Slice 1–2 onions for caramelizing.
Cook onions in butter/olive oil on low for 25–35 minutes.
Add a splash of balsamic vinegar to the onions at the end for richer flavor.
Do NOT cook prosciutto; add it after baking.
For the pizza base, use red sauce for a spicy + sweet contrast or white sauce/garlic oil for a richer flavor.
Layer the pizza starting with a light layer of sauce, followed by shredded mozzarella, hot sausage, and caramelized onions.
Bake the pizza at 475–500°F for 10–14 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
After baking, top with torn prosciutto and optional toppings like arugula, basil, Parmesan, or balsamic drizzle.
