Whisk ½ cup vinegar, 2 teaspoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon pepper and the grated garlic in a large bowl until the sugar and salt dissolve. Add sliced cucumbers, sliced onion and 2 tablespoons each chives and dill; toss until evenly coated.
Cover and refrigerate until chilled and lightly marinated, at least 1 hour or up to 3 days. Stir and drain before serving. Recipe developed by Marianne Williams
