Cherry Bars With Glaze
  1. FIRST STEP:Preheat the oven to 350*, grease or liberally spray the 10x15 jelly roll pan

  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar and Vanilla Extract

  3. When fluffy, add in the eggs, one at a time beating between each

  4. Add the flour and the baking powder and blend until just combined

  5. Spread about ⅔ of the batter in the bottom of the jelly roll pan

  6. Spread out the pie filling in an even layer

  7. Drop the remaining batter by spoonfuls across the top of the pie filling

  8. SECOND STEP:Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean

  9. Place the jelly roll pan on a cooling rack and cool completely

  10. Once cooled, in a small bowl combine the Confectioners Sugar with milk and the Almond extract until you reach the desired consistency

  11. THIRD STEP:Drizzle the glaze over the top of the Cherry Bars

  12. Let sit until the glaze sets and hardens

  13. Cut into serving size pieces

  14. The bars can be topped with a dollop of whipped topping if desired
