Pot Roast
  1. Preheat Dutch oven.

  2. Melt shortening in oven.

  3. Dust meat with flour; brown on all sides.

  4. Add water; sprinkle meat with salt and pepper; place onion on top; cover.

  5. Cook until meat is fork tender.

  6. Potatoes and carrots may be added during last part of cooking.
