Preheat oven to 250°F
Mix together flour, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves well with a stand mixer
Add water and mix until combined, adding additional 1 tbsp water if too dry
Roll out dough to ¼ inch thick
Cut out star shapes using a small star ornament cutter
Poke a hole through each star using a chopstick, making it large enough for a needle or wire to pass through
Lay stars on a baking sheet with minimal spacing between them
Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours until hardened
Let cool completely
Optional: rub or spray oil mixed with cinnamon oil on stars to darken and retain scent
String stars at varying intervals onto fishing wire using knots
Attach fishing wire to a foraged branch for display
