Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, eggs, butter extract, and butter.
Scoop a heaping tablespoon of dough and place on prepared baking sheet. Make sure to place the cookie dough balls about 2-inches apart.
Bake the cookies for 7-8 minutes. Let them cool for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Make the cookie glaze by placing the granulated sugar, butter, vanilla, and water in a small saucepan.
Warm over medium-low heat. Make sure to whisk while the glaze is warming. Heat until the sugar dissolves.
Spoon the glaze over the cooled cookies. Let the glaze set for about 5 minutes before serving the cookies.
