Milopita Recipe (greek Apple Cake)
  1. Peel and dice the apples, then set aside.

  2. In one bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, and chopped walnuts.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix all the wet ingredients: yogurt, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and brandy.

  4. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing until a thick batter forms.

  5. Fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed.

  6. Butter a 24cm round cake pan and sprinkle it with a little flour.

  7. Pour the batter into the pan, pressing it down to ensure it is evenly spread.

  8. Preheat your oven to 170°C (fan-forced).

  9. Peel and slice the apples to your desired thickness, then place them in a bowl.

  10. Squeeze the lemon juice over the apple slices, mixing to prevent browning.

  11. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with the brown sugar and ground cinnamon, stirring until dissolved.

  12. Turn off the heat.

  13. Arrange the sliced apples on top of the cake batter.

  14. Pour the glaze over the apples. It doesn’t need to be evenly spread.

  15. Bake in the oven for approximately 1 hour. Check for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.

  16. Once cooked, let the cake cool.

  17. Once cooled, sprinkle with icing sugar.

  18. Serve and enjoy!
