Servings
Makes 4–6 tartlets or one large tart (rectangular or freeform).
Ingredients
Preheat your oven to 400°F . Line a baking sheet with parchment. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface; trim to desired shape.
Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the surface—this adds depth and helps prevent sogginess.
Evenly layer the ham slices across the pastry. Sprinkle on the grated Gruyère.
Dot with melted butter if you want extra richness and crispiness (optional).
Brush the exposed pastry edge with egg wash (1 beaten egg + splash of water) to get a gorgeous golden crust.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
