Crockpot Great Northern Beans
  1. The night before, add your beans to a large bowl & submerge them in water; cover the bowl & let them soak overnight

  2. The next morning, drain the beans, rinse them off & pick out any bad ones; set beans aside

  3. To the crockpot add onions, peppers & garlic

  4. Next, add beans, water, chicken bouillon powder, better than bouillon & all other seasonings; stir until evenly incorporated

  5. Add in turkey tails, using tongs to push them under the broth making sure everything is fully covered

  6. Add bay leaves

  7. Cover & let cook on high for 6 ½ hrs OR until meat is falling off the bone (you can also cook on low for probably 9-10 or until meat falls off bone)

  8. Remove bay leaves from crockpot & dispose

  9. Remove meat from crockpot

  10. Shred meat & discard bones; set meat aside

  11. Use a potato masher to mash beans to your desired consistency (skip this step if you like your beans whole)

  12. Add meat back to crockpot & stir it in until it's evenly incorporated

  13. Serve with white rice & cornbread
