  1. Cream the butter, sugar, and eggs together

  2. Melt together the milk and golden syrup before adding in the bicarb and allowing to fizz

  3. Mix everything together with the remaining ingredients

  4. Bake in a 9 inch pan in a water bath at 160°C, covered in foil, for 3-3.5 hours
