Maple and Oatmeal Loaf (bread machine)
  1. Pour the water into the bread machine pan and then add the maple syrup. If the instructions for your machine specifically state that the yeast is to be placed in the pan first, reverse the order in which you add the liquid and dry ingredients.

  2. Sprinkle both the white and whole-wheat flours over, then the rolled oats and oat bran, ensuring that the water is completely covered.

  3. Add the salt, sugar and butter, placing them in separate corners of the bread pan. Make a shallow indentation in the center of the flour (but not down as far as the liquid) and add the yeast.

  4. Set the bread machine to the basic/normal setting, medium crust. Press Start.

  5. Remove the bread at the end of the baking cycle and turn out onto a wire rack to cool.
