Homemade Hamburger Buns
  1. Mix together the warm water, warm milk, maple syrup, and yeast. Let bloom for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Mix in the salt, butter, and egg.

  3. Add flour one cup at a time and knead until dough becomes soft and stretchy, about 5-10 minutes. Dough will be tacky but not sticky.

  4. Place the dough in a bowl and let rise for about an hour, or until doubled.

  5. Lightly flour your counter and divide dough into 8-10 balls.

  6. Roll and gently press each ball to flatten.

  7. Cover and allow to rise for about 30 minutes, or until puffy.

  8. Preheat oven to 375°F during the second rise.

  9. If desired, brush with egg wash (1 egg + splash of whole milk) and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

  10. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

  11. Allow to cool before slicing.

  12. Store in an airtight bag on the counter for a few days, or up to a week in the fridge. Freeze well.
