Pandesal (filipino Bread Rolls)

Activate Yeast

  1. Combine milk, yeast, and 2 teaspoons sugar. Let stand 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Prepare Dough

  1. Whisk flour and salt.

  2. Add remaining sugar, butter, oil, and eggs to yeast mixture.

  3. Add flour mixture in three additions. Knead 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Transfer to oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.

Shape Rolls

  1. Punch down dough. Divide into 24 portions (35-40g each). Roll into oval balls.

  2. Dip tops of dough balls into breadcrumbs. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced 1½ inches apart.

  3. Cover loosely and let proof 20-30 minutes until puffy.

Bake Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  3. Transfer to wire rack.
