Dissolve yeast in warm water (use 1 tsp of the sugar to proof).
Add shortening, rest of sugar, and salt to scalded milk, allow to cool.
Mix in 1 c of flour, then the egg, then remaining flour.
Refrigerate in covered, greased bowl (add more flour if dough is sticky).
Shape rolls and let rise in warm place for about 2 hours before baking.
To shape, flour your fingers, divide dough into 4 parts, each part into 3 smaller parts.
Then shape the twelve dough balls into 3 piece rolls.
Bake 8-10 minutes at 400°F.
