Cake
Cream the shortening and sugar.
Stir in the eggs.
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda together. In separate bowl, combine milk with mashed bananas. Add the banana mixture, alternately with the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Beat well.
Pour in well greased and lightly floured 9 x 13" pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool.
Topping
Cream butter.
Add brown sugar, sweet cream and coconut.
Spread on top of cooled cake. Place under the broiler in your oven for a few minutes until bubbly and light brown. (Pull up a chair and watch it. You don't want it to burn.)
