Preheat the Oven: Set to 400°F (200°C).
Make Caramel: Melt 4 tbsp butter in a 9-inch skillet. Stir in ½ cup brown sugar, 1 tsp cardamom, and ¼ tsp salt until golden.
Add Bananas: Arrange 4–5 sliced bananas on top of the caramel.
Optional Rum: Drizzle 2 tbsp dark rum over bananas (optional).
Add Pastry: Place a puff pastry round over the bananas.
Bake: Bake for 20 minutes until golden.
Serve: Cool for 5 minutes, then flip onto a plate. Add vanilla ice cream if desired.
