Baked Candied Yams
  1. Preheat oven to 350°.

  2. Wash, peel and chop yams ~ ½” thick.

  3. Place yams in 9x13 baking dish.

  4. Place the butter into a medium sized saucepan and melt over medium heat.

  5. Sprinkle in white and brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove.

  6. Turn off the stove, mix the ingredients and add vanilla.

  7. Pour the candied mixture over the yams – trying to coat all of them.

  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

  9. Remove from the oven and baste with candied mixture.

  10. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.

  11. Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
