Swedish Rye Bread (Ole's favorite)
  1. Mix oleo, salt and hot water together until oleo is melted

  2. Dissolve yeast in ¼ cup lukewarm water and 1 tablespoon sugar - add to above

  3. Add milk and syrup

  4. Put in rye flour and then white flour until hard enough.

  5. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.

  6. Place in greased bowl. Turn greased side up, cover with cloth and let rise in warm place until doubled in size.

  7. Punch dough down and divide in half. Roll each half into flat rectangles. Roll up each rectangle tight - place in greased loaf pans.

  8. Bake 350° until deep golden brown.
