Preheat oven to 400°F.
Lay a sheet of parchment paper on top of a large piece of heavy duty foil. This protects the cabbage and helps it steam perfectly inside wrap.
Cut cabbage in half and gently separate the leaves to create a natural pocket for the butter and seasonings — no cutting or scoring needed.
Tuck pats of butter in between the leaves. Season generously with paprika, salt, and black pepper, working it into the layers as much as possible.
Place cabbage on parchment, then wrap tightly with heavy duty foil. Make sure it’s fully sealed so the steam stays in.
Bake at 400°F for 2 hours until tender and buttery throughout. The longer cook time really lets all those flavors meld together beautifully.
