In a bowl, combine beef, sesame oil, soy sauce, cornstarch, baking soda, salt, and white pepper, mix by hand until evenly coated, set aside.
Slice white onion, separated green onions into green and white sections, roughly chop each. Mince garlic cloves.
Add vegetable oil to pan or wok on high get, heat until oil is shimmering, add beef strips and fry until beef is crispy. Remove and drain.
In the same pan, add white onion and white part of green, frying until golden, then add garlic, cook until fragrant.
Add beef back into pan, pour remaining soy sauce around edge of pan, add shaoxing wine, sugar, and MSG, toss until coated, then add greens and cook until finished.
Serve hot on thai hom mali or jasmine rice.
