Prepare the udon noodles according to package instructions.
In a separate pan, combine the soy milk, miso paste, chopped garlic, unsalted butter, soy sauce, mirin or white sugar, and sake or cooking wine.
Heat the mixture until the butter is melted and the flavors are combined.
Add the cooked udon noodles to the miso butter sauce and toss to coat.
Serve the miso butter udon and top with your desired condiments, such as sliced naruto fishcake, sliced shitake mushrooms, inari sweetened tofu skin, tenkasu (fried tempura batter bits), and chopped scallions.
