Preheat the oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, cayenne (if using), and cheddar. In a liquid measuring cup, whisk together the buttermilk and melted butter.
Pour the buttermilk mixture onto the dry ingredients and use a rubber spatula to lightly mix. You don’t want to over mix, just fold until everything is incorporated.
Use a ¼ cup cookie (or you could just use spoons) scoop to scoop out biscuits on to the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the biscuits are baking, whisk together the melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder. When the biscuits are done, brush with the garlic butter mix and enjoy immediately!
